More Online Community at All Souls?

I have recently been thinking about whether All Souls can make use of the internet to foster greater community. This blog is the primary venue in which members of the All Souls community can interact online. I think this can be a useful thing to do. However, to this point the interaction here has been somewhat limited. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this has been the case?

In our small group, we recently began experimenting with a full-blown online community via a free provider called Ning. We have a private page that only our group members can see. We can post pictures and video, have ongoing threaded discussions, blog, etc. Each member has their own page sort of like MySpace or FackBook. We can all do our own blog that gets posted to the main page. We also have threaded discussions where we discuss specific topics such as prayer requests and specific updates on what is happening in our lives. So far the interaction has been pretty good, and it helps us keep in touch when we are not together during the week. Could something like that expand to a broader segment of All Souls? Could the blog as it is be transformed into something more effective for generating community outside of our service and small groups? I'm curious to hear what others think and am hoping that we can have some discussion here.
